Elvis era uno studente della Self Realization, e divenne amico della responsabile, Sri Daya Mata, che lui chiamava affettuosamente "Ma".Secondo quanto riferito, Elvis ha incontrato Daya Mata, presidente della Self-Realization Fellowship di tutto il mondo con sede a Los Angeles, negli anni '60, e poi ha mantenuto il contatto con lei per tutto il resto della sua vita, spesso chiamandola e incontrandola come guida e consigli.Elvis meditava con Daya Mata, amava passare il tempo con lei, ci è andato molte volte sia con Priscilla che con Kathy WEstmoreland, Deborah Walley e soprattutto con Larry Geller- Lui era solito chiamarla Ma (abbreviazione di madre)e si rivolgeva spesso a lei per una guida spirituale, sottolineò che era come una santa, aveva un grande rispetto per lei e l'ascoltava, la interrogava per una scorciatoia per l'iniziazione al Kriya Yoga, e le poneva domande come: Perché Dio mi ha fatto Elvis Presley a cui la sua risposta era di porgergli alcuni antichi manoscritti, dicendo che potrebbe trovare la risposta alla sua domanda al loro interno.È stato documentato che durante la sua vita Elvis ha letto oltre un migliaio di libri diversi, comprendendo una vasta gamma di argomenti relativi alla filosofia, agli insegnamenti spirituali e alle arti esoteriche.

Originariamente incisa da Gigliola Cinquetti nel 1964

L’autore, David Bret nel suo "Elvis Presley, The Hollywood Years" disse che "Please Don't Stop Loving Me" era basata su una canzone facente parte, del Festival della Canzone in Eurovisione, del 1964, come partecipazione dell’Italia. La canzone era "Non ho l'Età" (vinse il festival). Stranamente, quando guardai "Frankie and Johnny" , qualche giorno dopo, una persona non fan di Elvis, mi fece notare che "Please Don't Stop Loving Me" assomigliava a "Non ho l'Età."
